Oregon Day of Culture

The Oregon Cultural Trust hosted a Day of Culture on October 8th. Hundreds of cultural events took place all over Oregon. I attended and photographed several in Portland. Here are members of the Trust and Oregon Arts Council at the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners as they proclaimed October 8th the Oregon Day of Culture.

"Marie Antoinette" and her court handed out little cakes to the citizens of Portland.

The Classical Chinese Garden opened its doors for free.

Performances took place all over town, including at the Hollywood Senior Center.

Kids were encouraged to be creative.

Oregon Ballet Theater let people watch a rehearsal.

A dance troupe got the audience involved at a big community dance in Pioneer Square.

This woman was photographed by Dorothea Lange when she was two years old out in Rural Oregon. She is showing a print of the photo to City Commissioner Nick Fish.

Sydney - September 19

I woke up early and watched the sun rise over Elizabeth Bay from Robbie's balcony.

Robbie took us out to Watson's Bay and we got some great views of the Sydney skyline.

You can see some haze in the background from some controlled burns that are taking place to try to help control this summer's fire season.

Lunch at Doyel's on Watson's Bay. Yummy seafood and a great view.

The "traffic" out on the bay - again from Robbie's balcony.
